I mostly play in: C# G# C# F#.
State your not so average tunings!
Fretted 4-String: A E A D/A# D# G# C#/B E A D
Fretless 5-String: C# F# B E A/D G C F A#/D# G# C# F# B/E A D G B/E A D G C
Standard 5 string
4 strings are DGCF and CGCF (usually retune rather than change instruments).
The 5 is ADGCF.
E A D G C
B E A D G
For one song:
B D A D G.
Makes things easier!
Play in C minor, a la Myung on Train of Thought.
D A D F# (when not standard)
E A D G
B E A D G
D G C F
Old school guy - old school tuning...
C# G# C#F#. Pure mean.
I recently realised the benefits of C E A D G, my band's six stringers play in drop C tuning and having the open C string makes some things a lot easier and reduces the strain on my wrist in some songs.
I've always dug the sound of 1/2 step down tuning, but rarely do I bother doing it for myself.
C G D A
I also have a doubleneck bass with a neck tuned E A D G but to be honest I can barely play in that tuning anymore - I get lost. And the infamous Krappy tripleneck - the one-string neck is tuned E, the two-string B E and the three-string C G D.
