I have an amp with the tweeter that's been scratchy since the day I got the amp so I've just kept it off. Even thought about replacing it but just didn't mess with it. Over time the master volume became scratchy and I few other pots started the same. I'm not into amp repair but finally had my fill and pulled the control panel out of the amp and shot all the pots with cleaner. Bit of a pain since it's solid state and has couple of large printed circuit boards that block getting a good shot into the pots.

Anyway, shooting the pots not only cleaned the pots up but the tweeter has worked fine since and adds a nice edge when desired. Now I use the tweeter as much as not. Only post this in case someone's having a similar experience since I've read plenty of posts with complaints about tweeters that suck.
