I have an early model Steinberger... It has the bolt on neck.. About a year after I bought it it turned yellow (it was white) I called steinberger and they said they had a batch of 500 that went out that did that.... And if I wanted a new body they would send me one.... I cant seem to find the model number of this bass. Body is swamp ash????? Composite bolt on neck.... EMG p'ups (not select>>this is a PRE-GIBSON piece. So on and so on... If anyone out there can help me out I would appreciate it. I have been to the steinberger site and could not find this model......... Thanks in advance for your help.... JM
Yes it looks like a stubby flying V. Do you have any information on serial numbers.. Mine is N44**. I have seen others with serial numbers over 13500. Any help is greatly appreciated!
...i've seen them before...try writing Ned Steinberger @nsdesign.com for details; all I remember is that they were made until 85 or so...
The "Mini-Vee" as it is sometimes called is an XP-2; suggested retail was $995 and they sold from about 1980 to the early nineties I think. Go to www.worldclassguitars.com for complete information (including parts).
Does anyone know what the worth of this piece is now... I have never seen one for sale. I saw a neck go for $500.00 once but thats about it.... And the serial number on that one was much later than mine. Thanks!!!!!!!!
I saw that Steinberger makes a Flying V like you were talking about... Like a mini.... My Bass is much like the original (Same Size) just a little wider body, not much, and a bolt on neck... But it does look like it could be a V if the legs were extended... But they are cut off at the tuners.. Is that the XP-2
