Hi, I hope somebody can help or at least point me in the right direction. I've been trying to find out details of a steinberger XZ-2 Sunburst 4 string with d-tune and serial number U04106947, but I just keep getting lost or referred to page that's been deleted. Any help is much appreciated Thanks Steve
There's a difference in serial number schemes for Steinberger USA instruments and the Spirit line. The latter uses the Epiphone serial number scheme, which you can check here. Bernd
Hi, Bend, please excuse this extremely late reply, and thank you very much for responding. Can't get through on that link, but I'll badger away now that I've got some direction. Thanks again
Well, the non-working link has to do with some stupid forum function censoring certain words with asterisks… I haven't noticed that when posting it. The missing part of the link is "…t a r d…" (I guess that's why it has been censored), the whole URL should read (without spaces in between) "g u i t a r d a t e r p r o j e c t . o r g".
I often wondered why it would do that when I’d try to help someone out with that link. Kinda funny actually in a demented sort of way
That link failed for me and I missed the follow-up posts explaining why (that's mad!). However, I found this which does the same job but less stylishly: http://www.epiphonewiki.org/index/Epiphone_Serial_Number_Decoding.php
That wiki list is somewhat flawed as it does not include a separate ‘E’ for Korean made Epiphone basses made at the Korean World factory in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
