My friend has a headless Steinberger bass and she wants to sell it. She said it's from the first run or it was one of the earliest years (I guess this is supposed to mean it's more valuable).

Is there an online resource to find out more about these basses? I think it will help her on Ebay if she can describe the bass with an educated frame of reference.

Any idea of how much (in general) these early Steinbergers go for?

    Thanks!

If it's in good shape, it should sell for well over $1K -- if it's an L-2, which is what it might be, given what your friend has said.

Check steinbergerworld.com for information -- they have a database of serial numbers so you can date the bass (year).

It's probably an L-2, but I can't say for sure without a serial number and picture or description of what the bass looks like. Need more info. For reference, my serial number is in the 5900s, and my bass is a 1988 XL-2.
