I try and follow the gear rule "Buy one, sell one." I just bought one so i need to sell this wicked good bass.

This is a all-composite Steinberger XL-2 bass. From the serial number it looks like it was made in July 1986.

It is in nice shape. It was in even better shape until some idiot rotated the strap crescent thing the wrong way and left a beautiful semi-circular scratch on the back. :crying:Outside of that, it's nice, even on the bottom end where you sometimes find wear on Steinies.

This bass sounds awesome. It can dominate a mix. You want Entwhistle??? YOU WANT SLAP??

I'll sell it in a gig bag for $1700 shipped continental USA.
Or you can buy it with the gig bag and a fitted Anvil case for $1850.

    Photos below.

    Thanks!

heh - that scratch is on about every Steiny I've ever seen....just a nature-of-the-beast thing.

Great price, remarkable bass - good luck with the sale!

    So... much.... wanting!
    So... broke :bawl:
    GLWTS, that's a sweet bass.

  6. Hmmmmmmmmm... looks an awful lot like my bass (minus the scratch on the back). I've got the XL2A. Probably the easiest bass to get a great recording with. It just sounds a-ma-zing.

    Thanks!

The aggravation comes because it had no scratch on the back when i bought it. Yep, I did it.

  10. You did that? Wow.

How in the world did you gouge it out like that... with a nail?

*Although, the picture may look nastier than it is in real life. Even dust and fingerprints on a black bass look horrible under a flash...

It's a nail polish deep line rather than a Magic Marker deep line. (No worries, I did neither.) Just turned the crescent the wrong way or somethng.

I selected the photos which made it look worst in the TB spirit of full disclosure.

Don't buy this bass if you ever figure on selling it. You'll miss it more than your index finger.

Running into year-end scheduling issues, so I'll pull this off of the market. Thanks to those who looked and expressed interest.

Beautiful bass, wish this was closer to my budget.
Had a Hohner B2A lined fretless years ago, always hankered after the real thing.
    Good luck with the sale.

Would you be interested in trading for a Bergantino IP212?
