    Original Steinberger XL-2A from 1987. Playing wear but technically fully functional and complete with 'flipper' and battery compartment cover. With soft bag

    Plays like a dream sounds like a.. Steinberger, which is closer to a Jazz Bass, Precision Bass and Music Man Stringray than you might think, with a distinctive solid Steinberger flavour.

    This is the real 'composite' machine. No woods are used. Substantially different than the later 'Hohner B2's' and 'Spirits' (with no doubt much much much better: these original Steinbergers are fantastic really!)

    Selling since I play 5 strings only. Would be prepared to trade with a same Steinberger with 5 strings and wide spacing.

    This is a true gem. Check the internet. There are a few for sale only at prices between €3500/€4500. I am asking €2500
    (Americans: this is USD3000)

    Gladly shipping anywhere at costs.

    Which circuit does this bass have? Is it VVT or Vol, Blend, Boost?

    It has both the original circuit and pickups as the new preamp (Hazlab) and pickups (EMG HBSC). Both fully functional. I do not recall 100% sure if the original circuit has VVT or VBT. The new pre amp for sure has VB and a stacked pot with a two band eq. The original has an active pre amp too but one tone control knob only that in some clever way amphasizez the lows or the highs. Very interesting and good sounding too! I can send you pics of the original pre amp/pickups.. maybe you can see it?

    Right, so you have the stacked tone circuit plus the original one? The original circuit boosted highs and lows, and that sounds like what you have.

    Under pressure last year I had to sell my XL2A. Genuinely interested. I'm in Scotland, a short hop away.

    More pix, please, esp of wear.

    Also, any up bow on the neck? Any fret-choking?

    Yes, I have the new stacked tone circuit plus the original one. Also I have the original EMG's and the new EMG's.

    Yes, the new circuit has the stacked 2 band EQ.

    Being form the Lowlands: love the Highlands!
