It's been done and asked before (by me i think), but i once saw an outline of all the stereotypes for band members. but if no one can remember, how bout we start fresh? so what are the stereotpes of band members? oh, make it rock bands, so ot narrows it down a bit, ok. so are all drummers stupid? are all singers up themselves; guitarists brooding?
by the way my email is [email protected] i just checked when i last tried this thread and it kinda got lost in this whole Who 'who are you' thing. hopefully not this time.
Singers are the ones with tight leather pants. Guitarists are egomaniacs. Bassists are (fat) potheads in the back Drummers are insane freaks with hair that covers their entire face while they relentlessly pummel the drums.
most drummers i have seen are fat... bassist are more relaxed-laid back type (Well most of them... including me) of course Flea and some other bassists are the exception of the rule
It seems to me that in a rock band the drummer will never say anything.........ever. In every interview I see the only people who talk are the guitarist and the singer then the bassist will add one comment in and the drummer will hide his face from view in the back. Crazy drummers
i think everyone in my band is opposite of those stereotypes me-bass player/lead singer- i am really crazy onstage and people tell me that i have a wonderful ability to piss people off lead guitar/backup vocals- he's my best friend, hes really shy though, and doesnt have much self esteem 2nd guitar- he is a natural born talent but he wont admit it cause hes really humble and kinda shy drummer- he is the most conservative nerdy guy i know, he has a 4.0 gpa, and hes always dressed to kill
I think I saw THEE most funnist thing ever @ Gig On The Green. They had been doing interviews, and I managed to get one of this little passes to get me there, I was looking through the windows, and to me SHOCK I saw my heros. Billie Joe, Mike and Tre It was hirlarious!!! "So, how would you compare yourselves to other punk/rock bands? Such as Blink 182" "bahahaha MUCH better." - BJ "We're too smart for people such as them.. " - Mike "Blink..18..Who?" - Tre Later on.. "What will you be doing now? For the next view weeks or so?" "Well, I'm feeling kinda hungy.." - Tre. "AHH FRESH MEET!" OMG. Tre jumped the camera guy and start to bite his leg! So everyone tries not to laugh and continue. At the end of the interview, Tre gets up, "Mm tastes like chicken!!"
i guess you're wondering why i called you here... i'm doing research for an assignment on "how to make your own rock band" (a kind of D.I.Y) so i need some great, solid stereotypes for band members i guess there's the standard, singer, bassist, guitarist (maybe a second rhythm one too), drummer and perhaps a keyboard player (i really don't know if they're easy to categorise?) much appreciation to those who can bring in the good stuff
this is the way i've heard it: guitarist: egomaniac, thinks he's better than everyone else, loud and obnoxious. singer (who doesnt play instrument): more egotistical than the guitarist, does everything with his head up his ass. stereotypical "rock star" personality. drummer: womanizer, quiet and reserved normally, but crazy during performances. bassist: laid back, usually fat and stoned keyboard: shy, less talented (i hear so many jokes about bad keyboard players. it seems every other person thinks they can play the piano.) dont take my word for it though -nik
i hear that the egotistic lead singers or lead guitarist refer to the band as "my band" like when a pimp refers to his hookers even if he didn't start the band.
Thats because they are always spending their dole money on booze drugs and prostitutes. That and the fact the Zoo doesn't pay them much to swing from ropes, scratch themselves and eat bananas.. Merls
ROFL Merls!!! HAs anyone seen the video to "Hit or Miss" I'd say thats pretty cool. They all wake up late for a gig. The singer spends the whole time in the bathrroom fixing his hiar etc. The rythme guitarist is fixing a flat tyre oon their van. The Bassist is trying to get some candy from a vending machine, the drummer gets pulled into a Prostitudes room And te lead guitarist is telling the rythme how it should be done
IMO Most bands... Lead Vocals- Most attention from fans... thinks he/she is the most important part of the band, Popular, Good Looking Guitar- Energertic... gets girls/ guys... Feels his/her part is necessary in the band, very good looking, Popular Bass- Laid back, shy, not very known, sometimes stoned for long periods of a time... not much attention Drums- Hyper active, Usually late always (especially when drumming), Gets girls/guys easily, Long hair.. Good looking.. but gets girls/guys because he/shes in a band. Thats my sterotype of band members.. but heres how my band is.. My Band... Lead Vocals/2nd Guitar- Good Looking, Wants to be the leader and everything must go her way.. Cant really have fun.. everything must be perfect.. Lead Guitar- Stuck up and thinks hes the best guitarist that ever lived... OK looking.. Bassist (THATS ME!)- Must have a say in everything, Very energetic and makes it fun.. dosnt care for perfection.. jus wants to have fun.. Drummer- Shy, Not much say in anything, depressed, nice... Not that bad looking Ummm yea!
My guitarists both lack serious motivational skills Time I invested in one of those elctric cattle prods
Everyone is stereotyping bassists as fat, is that why I seem to gain weight the more gigs I get despite no obvious change in lifestyle or habits? -Dan
