Sterling Switch good for what?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by T-Bone5566, May 7, 2010.

  1. I tried MM Sterling bass at a store and was very pleased, nice instrument. The 3 way switch I found good for:

down - softer sound like a mild chorus
middle - good mids, good for slap/pop
up - classic MM sound for classic rock with good growl

any Sterling owners can varify this?

Interesting descriptions. But here is what the switch actually does:

switch pointed back; both coils in parallel (stingray sound)
switch in middle; single coil mode
switch pointed forward; both coils in series (fatter mids)
  3. cool thanks, I am more interested in what place do you put the switch for what reason in a song, what switch do you put it in for slapping etc. Not exactly what the switch is for, what does a MM Strerling Bassist use it for and when (an example would be cool also)
