Steve- do you write on guitar?

Discussion in 'Ask Steve Lawson & Michael Manring' started by The Mock Turtle Regulator, Sep 19, 2002.

  1. it just occurred to me to try playing the chordal lines to "drifting", "the virtue of the small" and "blue sticks" on acoustic guitar instead of bass, and I found how easily the open strings fitted in, leading me to suspect you originally came up with those ideas on guitar, and transferred them to bass (necessitating some tricky stretches where the 12th fret has to substitute for a guitar open string).

am I right in thinking that?

"the new country"'s chordal shapes sound like they were devised on bass, however.

all of my stuff is written on the bass - my skills on a thin stringed guitar are pretty poor, to say the least... :)

The bass the whole bass, and nothing but the bass... :D
