There's something about this record which defies analysis but is just EXCITING. Frank Carlberg's on piano, Chris Van Voorst Van Beest is on DB and Young Grover plays drums. Andrew Rathbun plays tenor on one tune -- what a dark sound he has!

All the tunes are Steve's, and that's probably the source of a lot of the buzz -- Grover is a nationally-recognized composer, and he's good. My only complaint is that the cardboard demo-pack is kinda cheesy, but it keeps the price down, too.

There's nothing tricky -- no spiffy arrangements, no odd meters, no "celebrity" guests. There's nothing except excellent melodic modern jazz.
