i've gotten the urge to slice my mim jazz up, i want to put soapbars in it. would there be any ups/downs to doing this? would it not sound good?

i've wanted to do that too. i was thinking about putting some thunderbird pickups in a jazz body. i wanna build a warmoth mahogany jazz bass w/ t-bird pickups in it.
  3. Aren't they both still single coil pickups?

Why would you want to do that?

If you like the sound of whatever soapbars you're thinking of using, it will probably sound good to you.

The downside is that if you don't like it, you will be out the cost of the soapbars and you will destroy the already-low resale value of your bass.
