I posted this on the Ernie Ball Forum, but I thought I'd also post the question here...

I recently purchased a used Sterling and I have to admit, it's a great bass. I'm really likin' the neck. Over the last couple of years I have moved to the narrower neck basses (Jazz, "A" neck P-Bass, Sterling, etc.).

I thought I read somewhere that at some point in time the narrow neck option was available on the Music Man Sting Ray. Can anyone give me a time frame of when these were available? Also, are these narrower necks similar to the necks on the Sterlings? I think I'm going to be in the market for another new bass soon (please don't tell my wife) and I'm seriously considering one of these if I can find one. Knowing the years they were in production will help my search immensely.

Or certainly if anyone has one of these for sale, I'd love to talk....

    Thanks!!

    Dave

I believe a few Rays were made in Pre-EB times with a 1.5" nut width. They're rare and expensive. AFAIK, Sterling Ball isn't planning on bringing these back.
