There were 23 DD Stingray 5HH with matching headstocks made.

I own one of them, and so does bovinehost, so I can state with absolute certainty that there were more than 2 made in that exact configuration.

FWIW, the 23 number is official from the EBMM forum.

    I own one too.

I emailed the seller, and got a pretty nasty response from him. I was simply doing it as a courtesy to him, letting him know that he has some mis-information in his ad.

Apparently I'm pretty dumb. He was very quick to point out that I knew nothing of what I was talking about.

maybe he's saying theres only 2 of the specific model (stingray 5 with dual humbuckers, roseboard, matching headstock)

not trying to defend him, and i don't know about this particular model, but maybe most of the others were 4 string or single humbuckers?

That's what I have sitting in my lap, right now. Double humbucker, 5 string, rosewood board, matching headstock.

If that's the case, then I have the only other one in existence.:)

BartmanPDX also has one, as does Jack(bovinehost), as Bartman already pointed out.

  6. I noticed the addendum to the description. What a jerque. I e-mailed. I just *had* to. Now he'll probably flame me to bits. I'll post when he answers.

I freaking hate how people try shift like that on eBay, then get in your face when you catch them...

  7. Lol, this was his "addendum" on the auction:

We state our good friend and Musicman Rep told us he thinks they made 2 of these in this exact spec. Officer Krumpky and Uncle Henry of the Ebay Police and Forum guru specialists think they made 23, 9, 11 or 17. We've been emailed all these numbers. BOTTOM LINE, they made a handful. We state probobly 2 as told to us not DEFINATELY 2. There are no more of these. We appriciate any constructive assistance, we are not perfect but appearently some of the forum geniouses know everything and like to stress that right or wrong. Go back and play on your couch like nice little bass players.. We just want accurate auctions.

He sounds like a real class act!

  8. Yep. That's what made me e-mail them... I should've offered my services as their new MM guru, because I'd say that their rep don't know his business so well...

Yeah, that's the type of response I got from them when I emailed them.

I started out doing it to be nice--just to let em know that they were completely wrong in saying that it was basically the only one offered for sale to the public.

Darn. It didn't meet his reserve.;)

  12. It was over $1995 and it STILL didn't meet his reserve?

I saw a DD Bongo on "The Perfect Bass" just yesterday for under $1300. It's gone now, but I DID see it there. Unless it was a mistake.

  13. It was $1136, his buy it now was $1995

Im glad he didnt sell it, seemed like a jerk!

Wow that guy is a jerk if he talks to potential customers that way. I have never liked their over-inflated prices, and have seen errors in their ads before, so with attitude like that I'll never buy anything from him. He should remember, the customer is who keeps him in business.
If he's not a Mr Know-it-all, then he sure seems to ask Mr Know-it-all prices. This is his profession, he should doing some freakin' research.

BTW, Martin Music near Memphis still has a new DD SR5-HH in stock. I have bought MM's from them before, they give great deals.

I can say with almost 100% certainty that mine is the ONLY Dargie Bongo 4 with piezo bridge made.:smug:

Unless of course, Dargin or Sterling snuck one in for their personal stash :)

I hope he relists it. So it doesn't sell again for the ridiculous Buy It Now price--if that's where his reserve is at, that bass is gonna get listed a bunch of times without selling.:rollno:

I can see the Dargie's holding their value, but I really don't get how this dude thought he could sell it for $400 more than what new ones are selling for--Heck, I think I bought mine for $500 less than what he was asking.

According to the seller in that auction, I should be able to say that mine is 1 of 2 made!!:)

I think the Dargie's will hold there value. In a couple years people will be all over then and since they were made to order most of the went to people who won't sell them. They will be really hard to get. There are a hand full of Dargie owners on the boards. I know Eggman now has 4 dargies, I have 1, you have 1, syciprider and bartman also each have one.

  19. I got one also!

I agree--with the extremely limited numbers of these, I sure can't see them going down in value.
