Been looking at a few Stingrays on various websites, and I've noticed that on a lot of Stingray 5's (even the single pickup models), there's a switch which looks similar to a pickup switch. Can anyone explain what this is for?

On the dual-pickup Stingrays, it's a pickup selector.

On the single-H models, it's a coil splitter of sorts that switches between series, single-coil, and parallel.

    Hope that helps.

It is a coil selector switch. On a single pup SR5, it goes humbucker, single coil, series parallel. On a SR5 HH, it goes back two coils (bridge pup), rear neck coil & front bridge coil (kinda like a Jazz Bass), all coils at once, two neck coils, single neck coil. Not even touching the eq, the SR5 HH gives you alot of tone options.:)

Maybe he was thinking about SUB5s.
