Stingray! Like a fine wine?

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by Scutterflux, Oct 8, 2002.

  1. Are there any general years that the stingray's where particularily great? I know the vintage ones are sought after, but are they generally considered to sound or be made better? There also seemed to be a resurgence of Stingray players in the early-mid 90's, and I've also heard that they're making the new ones pretty good to.

    Any info/comments are appreciated!:)

  2. in my experience, the QC on stingrays is superb. ernie ball doesn't make any "budget" instruments, so that means they move less units, and work more carefully on the basses they do make. i've never played one that i thought was a lemon. there'll always be folks who say that vintage whatever sounds better, but when it comes to stingrays i'd be just as happy with one that was made yesterday.
