While these basses are garden variety, you can get creative. What is or would be your dream Stingray look?
Mine is the translucent teal with a whit pearloid pickguard. The only color I might like better is the black sparkle with the matching headstock and a black pearloid pickguard. Can't wait for the day when I get a Stingray 5. jtbp
Transparent orange with white pearloid guard. Has to have the matching headstock though. Just wouldn't look right without it. Dave
Trasparent teal, maple fingerboard (matching headstock (m/h) optional), black pickguard. or ligth gray (m/h), black pickguard and maple fretboard or white (m/h) with black pickguard
Gman's got the idea 2nd favorite would be trans gold, with red peroid pickgard... matching headstock... and Maple fretboard is always the way to go I would also have to throw in a vote for flat black, with soild red pickguard... only seen it once though
Favorite?....Mine, old school vintage sunburst, maple neck, tortoise shell pickguard. That orange is awful nice too though.
...but don't tell anybody. That would be with the maple neck and matching headstock. When push came to shove, however, I chose my old favorite: black with maple neck. I am sprucing it up a bit with a new tortoise shell pickguard soon. Bought it from among many at BassCentral.
I stumbled onto a couple purty (fretless ) ones whilst surfin'... Huh. Those headstocks below look...familiar mmm...Old Skrewel
I love Fenders in natural with black...... I just can't stand them on MM's Pearl Blue with black sparkle Pickguard.. with matching headstock of course... at first I thought I'd hate it, but its grown on me.. Oh, and Maple fretboard Oh yes, sooooo purdy
I like mine--88 blueburst with a custom gold pickguard from Jeannie's. I also like the new finish called "blue dawn". That is freaking rad! I also like the really bright white with matching headstock and tortoise pickguard. All four strings though--I'm not a big fan of the Ray 5 pickguard.
My Stingray is a natural with black pickguard and maple fingerboard. I´ve been thinking about buying a tortoise shell pickguard on it... The best stingray color combination I can imagine about would be "blue big flake" finish with withe pearloid pickguard and maple fingerboard.
