Hi my son owns a Stingray knockoff ,it orginally was wired up VVT which I have changed the pickup to a SD 1/4 pounders. At the moment its VT
I am thinking of putting a preamp into it.
I can get a clone ( copy) of the Saber (2 band eq) preamp, or a SD STC-3M4 ( 3 band eq)
    Which would you all recommend.
The main plate has 4 holes so if I go with the SD I can put the out put jack on the bottom of the body like MM
Thanks for your help / comments / ideas etc

John East has a preamp with the same characteristics of the real deal. I've heard the preamp with a SD pickup and sounds almost identical. You should try it. I think it is the BBT01 if I'm not mistaken.

    +1

John's Sting Ray preamps should sound dead on as the originals. He actually used my '79 Sabre preamp as a model for his Sabre pre.

Also, John is a super great dude...his customer support is second to none.
