    long beach
i just picked up mm stingray..i was wondering if resting my thumb on the pickup was a good idea..im always dragging my fingers against the pup
i really dont want to put a thumb rest on it..oh and a pick is out of the question..thanx
  2. Yes, it's fine to rest your thumb on the pickup. That's what I do on my basses. Just wipe off the pickup when you're done playing, especially if it has exposed pole pieces (which the Stingrays have).

I always rest my thumb either on the B string (If you have a stingray 5) or I just float the thumb when using the E string(or B).
