I am considering driving over to see a vintage 64 jazz bass. One pic shows a c stamp on the neck heel. I am assuming this will be a wide neck 1.75 at the nut. Is this an uncommon variant and can it devalue the bass? The feel will probably significantly differ from the modern reissues that I have encountered, right? Any thoughts on the effect on tone and feel?

If neck is original to bass, original buyer may have requested a P-Bass style neck. ( which would be a C neck)
Does bass have Jazz Bass sticker on head-stock ?
Again if original, it is rare, but I have seen this before.
    I've seen a 1965 Jazz like this.

Remember there was no custom shop back then.
If a dealer was big enough, they could request special orders
and fender would sometimes do these.

Yes there is a jazz bass sticker. As a guitar player I tend to favor the a necks however the only precisions i played were modern ones.
