Stock Replacements...

    Pulling the old stock pups out of my explorer.
    Im looking @ the EMG-HZ series, Does anyone have experience w/ the correct size pups for an explorer style body, dosent have to be EMG, open to suggestions..:D

    I don't know Explorers, but if you post measurements, I could make a suggestion or two. Also, unless you're getting the HZ's used, they seem to be kind of expensive. I'd get "real" EMG's if I were buying new. The only place I've seen the HZ's for sale is Stew-Mac, and they want about as much as the actives cost.

    Yea, they want 75.00 ea. new....
    Dim. are 3 3/4" x 1 1/2" thats the pup pocket also......

    Hm. Well, EMG 35's are 3.5" x 1.5", they might work. They come in P, J, DC, and CS models, so you could probably find a sound you like. The Bartolini M3 is the same size (but not active). Kent Armstrong makes a similar-sized passive soapbar that's 1-1/4" by 3-7/8".

    I think 75 bucks is too much for HZ's. You should be able to get actives or Barts for that kind of money.
