    This is it. Finally. The exact, note for note transcription of what Robert F'ing DeLeo plays on this song. It exists nowhere online, so I had to do it myself.

    It's bass lines like this that make Robert F'ing DeLeo so great and unique, in my opinion. He doesn't make the guitar sound thicker by just adding root notes, he plays the actual notes of the chord, Check out what he does in measure 3 (plays the fifth of the G5 chord first and then the root), the second half of measures 9 and 10 (plays the third of C/E chord and D/F# chord first and then the root), and the ascending, Coltrane like outlining of the Ebmaj7 chord in measure 19 smoothly settling into the F chord that follows.

    I hope wherever Robert is today he knows the effect he's had on bass players all over the world.
