Hello all. I really dunno if this belongs in the 'Bass Guitar' section of the site because I really don't know what this product is! Very Mysterious... I was on facebook and I noticed a bass related ad to the right - I can't remember facebook asking if I played bass so I thought it was a bit odd!? Anyway, http://www.rebelhead450.com/ is the page that came up. Happy investigations. I just figured I'd share this with all my new TalkBass friends. (I promise I have no affiliation with whatever this is all about!!) Please share any thoughts because I fear this (clearly viral marketing and intentionally annoying thing) may bug me for a while. Scott
Looks/sounds to me like an ad for a bass-specific multi-fx unit. Possibly built into a preamp or amp head a'la the SWR Mo-Bass, as it is a "head" with "450" (I'm guessing watts) and there is a brief graphic mentioning tubes and also a tuner out.
From what I've heard if you've signed up to facebook your rights to privacy are gone forever. Okay that's hearsay, I know. OTOH it looks like some OTHER website, which does know about your bass-playing proclivities, has shared that info with facebook, and that's even more worrying. The video is a very clever marketing ploy, isn't it ... in a rash moment, right after discovery, I nearly posted a link on a UK bass forum. Then I realised I'd been (nearly) suckered.
Actually, I saw this ad here on TalkBass. "The iPhone of bass" or something like that. Considering my own opinion about the iPhone, then it should be an effect box that does something other effect boxes have been doing all along, except in a shinier box.
The domain is owned by TC Electronic. So it appears to be a legit attempt at viral marketing. I'm guessing a Nova or G system unit dedicated to bass.
a touchscreen effects unit. oh, will not have chorus, distorsion, envelope filters, and will not allow MMS messaging, also, the camera sucks.
