  1. I'm not sure if this is a common experience ( i aint posting a poll!) but when i first started bass i had the bass slug so low it was past my crotch. Now being fairly tall it looked in proportion, not a problem.

But since then, since i have been doing more board work etc, its slowly crept up to above my belt. How many people have had the Strap Migration scheme happen?

    Did it have its passport?

    :D:D

actually, my strap moved south from Virginia to Florida. It may or may not be coming back anytime soon.

Anyway, my bass is currently around my thighs. I plan on moving it to the high-crotch area a la Flea as soon as I can get comfortable with that position.

Mine has thus far stayed stationary. I tried moving it up north for easier access, but it didn't work, comfort wise. Mine's not low, it's just about groin level. Actually, It's pretty comfy where it is.

  8. Mine moved as far south as possible and STAYED there. I guess it liked the Spanish food and warm climate.

    Rock on

It's called latent maturation. Soon, you'll want a bass shaped like a bow-tie, so you can play like Keith Horne.

    lol hahaha

    yeh

I like it high, kinda low abdomen.

  11. Mine is as low as the strap will let it go, and it still isn't *that* low. I need to add something to it to make it longer, but Im way too lazy for a crazy ezperiemnt like that.

  12. mine started off really, really low (but that was on a 4 string) it later moved on up to about mid torso. then i got my 6 and i started wearing it like a bow tie but now i've got it in a nice, comfy, middle region right above where my rib cage starts.

My bass started in the south by my crotch, but wanted better job opportunities and to be played in a better fashion, and creeped over the boarder of my belt. I didn't even notice it, but then the migration continued up towards the fertile midwest that is my belly. Now, as my bass gets more acclimated to colder climates, the steady ascent to my chest has been completed (possibly due to the tax cuts and work availability, I can't say for sure). I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it heads up to the chin. Such is life. Silly vagabond.

  14. Continuing the geographical metaphor...

My bass was in downstate Illinois for a while--somewhere between St. Louis and Springfield--but it's gone back south to Memphis. I don't like it any lower, though, as it's a 35" scale 5-string and left hand gets kinda tough in the low registers if I have it below mid-belly level. As it is, the upper horn is just under my left nip.

  15. We can't have illegal strap immigration in this country! Send the navy up north to sort em out!

Just in time for the election, too....

  16. Ahh look what i've started. lol

I had to make new holes in my padded leather strap to make the bass go as high as I wanted it to. I find it much easier to play it like that - I can access every fret and position and use any technique I want without stressing my wrists. Feels really good, although it can look a bit silly. :)

  18. Geography was one of my not-so-good subjects, but let's see now...

My bass started out somewhere near the Philippines, down by my crotch. Then she slowly moved up north to Hong Kong, right about my hips, where she currently resides. However, she's begun to like the looks of mainland China, up by the stomach.

I'm not entirely sure if she's going to migrate to Beijing or Shanghai, but if she does I'll have some straplok replacement to do. :p

  19. My Bass moved up onto my stomach about three years ago, and seems to enjoy it there. The pay is good, and it keeps her out of the dirty parts of town:eek: :D

Methinks the word you wanted was migration. There's a difference.

Lemme fix that title for you.

BTW. It has happenned to me too. I never had it slung very low, but lower than I have it now.
