Streamer stage1 5er preamp replacement advice

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by bassedsouth, Jun 28, 2008.

  1. Hi , I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever replaced the guts and maybe the pups on their Warwick Streamer Stage1 5ers.
I'm toying with the idea of an Aguilar obp3 pre and Nordstrands , perhaps even single coil Nordies .
Any advice would be great .....

The Perfect Bass has a 3 band 4 knob Glockenklang that would sound pretty sweet for about $150. It requires a little soldering.

  5. I must say that they look pretty good !!
    Have you tried these ?

  6. I replaced mine for a seymour duncan 3 band preamp along with some basslines pickups. Although they fitted the routings perfectly and the tone was great, the output was uneven making the B and G string sound weaker than the others. I've put the MEC pickups back on because of that but I'm looking for a replacement.

Yes, I have installed one in a Tber friend's (smpugh723) Roscoe SKB3006 and it sounds great. The TBers below have installed them into their basses as well.

One thing cool, your Warwick knobs will fit this preamp.

  8. I guess that the pickup poles weren't quite lined up to the strings / the Stage1 has a wider than usual string spacing of [email protected] / add that up over all the strings and the B&G strings could be out of range by a few mills to the poles I guess !

  9. But warwick uses those pickups on their custom shop...I don't get it. How do they make it work? It's really weird...
