String action problem

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Progfan44, Aug 5, 2012.

  1. I purchased a used Ibanez Sr506 a while back and as of late the high C descends until it bounces off the pickup making it virtually unplayable. Can I adjust individual string height on the bridge? Also, is there a more long term solution?

Yes you can adjust the saddle and a little clear nail polish or Loc-Tite on the set screw will keep it from moving while you play.

Sounds like the bridge saddle for that string needs raising a bit. If it creeps back down like is common on the SR300's then some locktite or similiar is needed on the adjustment screw.

+1, I use this on the saddle screws of my Ibby as well, otherwise the strings keep moving towards the fretboard. They've been stable for more than six months now.
