String Advice

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by Andrew Noury, Jun 24, 2002.

  1. The time has come to change strings on my MIM Fender Jazz bass.

I'm pretty much decided on Thomastik Infield Jazz roundwounds but am wondering if anyone has any opinions on how these strings sound for slapping.

I play mostly fingerstyle and am after a simple "Jazz Bass" sound but play a little slap and would like a string that doesn't sound completely horrible when thwacking off the frets.

    Thanks all!

  2. Jazz Rounds are extremely low tension. Consider the TI PowerBass instead. Standard tension, wonderful tone.

  3. Agreed. If you're looking for TIs to slap, I'd say go for the Powerbass rounds.

  6. Oh man, don't tell me I have to hear from Romano in two forums! Isn't there some kind of limit?
