String alignment over pole pieces

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by gimmeagig, Apr 30, 2006.

  1. Hi,
I have a Moon JB 5 ( like a Sadowsky Jazz 5)and I recently installed a set of Nordies.Great pickups! I just installed a ABM bridge on the bass with adjustable spacing. It is as wide as it goes but still the outer strings are not aligned right in between the two pole pieces they are just over center of the inner magnet of the two.I'm not sure if I loose sound quality because of that. The strings seem to be balanced in volume. How crucial is it that the string sits right in between the two magnets? The old bridge ( gotoh )aligned a little better but it had springs on it that I could hear resonating.I don't really want to go back to that one.
