Ok, so I own a 80s Arbor P-Bass. I recently (yesterday) put in new pick-ups and pots and all that jazz, thats okay. I also installed a Bad-Ass III bridge. Well, as I am putting my strings on, I notice that my low E keeps buzzing at the first fret. I have to raise the action obnoxiously high to make it work. I own a Warick and with the adjustable nut I can change the height and that helps, but I dont have the same nut on my Arbor. I'm wondering, could the neck be slightly curved back, or is there ne way I can change the height at the nut? (After letting the bass set with strings on, the buzzing diminished a bit but it still had really high action). Any suggestions? o and it buzzes pen and fretted. it stops buzzing after I fret the fifth fret.

Hmm, since you are talking about buzz when u are fretting, i don't think it has to do with the nut. I think the nut has to do with open-string buzzing.
Maybe u need to adjust the truss rod, or there's a bad fret or smth.

By the sounds of it you just need a bit more relief. Something happened when you were doing the work... not a big problem though, it does happen from time to time. The buzzing diminished a bit because the tension from the strings has been slowly moving the neck.
As long as the buzzing happens only towards the nut, you won't need much of an adjustment to the truss rod. You should be able to then adjust your action to where it was.

well, I found another source to the problem. The nut was warn down. Once I get a new nut on that will help out my action and then I can set the neck where it needs to be. But I thank all of you for the help.
