String for a short-scale Acoustic

Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by emandell, Dec 4, 2001.

  1. I've got a Fender BG-32 which I'd like to replace the strings on.

I should probably use acoustic specific strings but there doesnt seem to be much choice for a short-scale bass (29.7") i.e. its Fender or nothing as far as I can see.

Would it be ok to use full length strings and trim them ?

It seems that a lot of Acoustics are short-scale so what do others do ?

Just find the ones you want and trim them down.

    GHS makes a set (9200). Phosphor-bronze roundwound over a
stainless steel core. Gauged 40-58-76-96. "...fits 30in. - 31in. Scale".

    Just Strings has`em for ~$18/set.

sheetmusicplus has some short-scale Adamas' and a GHS set.
Bruce (Lindfield) - a UK TB'r - has dealt with them before with good results.
