Hey! I have a 5 string bass, and have been meaning to ask something about string gauge and tuning. So I have set of medium gauge strings on it and wanted to know if I will be able to tune it higher. All help would be appreciated.

  2. "Tune it higher" as in how much higher?

Tuning UP is always risky as it may put undue stress on the neck. Be cautious.

I want to tune it to B-F#-B-E-G#
    String gauge would be 132 105 85 65 45.

Check out Kalium, GHS, or D'Addario tension charts to keep all the strings w/in a reasonable tension range.

No, so called 'medium' tension is a high tension, tunng up 2 semitones is 26% more tension. Drop the gauges of EADG by .010, perhaps use an extra light set .095-.035.

All right! Thank you for your help!
I was a little late in reading this, ended breaking the saddle of my bridge. Haha.
