Hey everyone, Having a bit of trouble trying to figure out what to use and wanted some input before I drop some money on new strings. I have an NG-2 (5 String) and I'm trying to figure out what gauges would work with D Standard. I occasionally drop the drop C on the 4th string. I see these guys: DINGWALL NICKEL PLATED STEEL LONG-SCALE 5 STRING SET. 045" .055" .080" .100" .130" - Dingwall Guitars I know I should get two different basses for those tunings, but until I can afford another one I'll be doing this. Thanks
What do you mean by "D standard on a 5-string"? Are you talking about A-D-G-C-F (one whole step down from the standard B-E-A-D-G)?
You can just bump them up from what the standard strings are. I would do .135 .110 .085 .070 .050. Ultimately depends on the tension you prefer. If you like lighter tension the standard Dingwall strings are excellent.
Thanks for the advice! Thinking about it I might keep my dingwall in ADGCF and just buy another bass for Drop C. Looks like I'll keep the standard dingwall strings though
