String Gauges

    I was wondering if anyone knows if the string gauge on a Squier Affinity P-bass is lighter than that of a Squier Standard P or even Fender P-Bass.

    I am asking because I went to a music shop today to check out their basses and when I played their squier standards and fender P-basses their strings had much higher tension than mine and I have the stock ones that came with my affinity P-bass.

    Mine are all clicky and clanky and buzz insanely, but on all of the ones I tried they were nice and tense with almost no buzz whatsoever, especially in the 9-20 fret range (unlike mine they sound almost hollow).

    I thought I might add to the previous question and ask if anyone knows what string gauge a squier P-Bass has in general?

    is it .40 to .100?

    Grab some calipers and measure.
