Can anyone tell me if the string height is supposed to be constant from the bottom of the fretboard to the top? I've noticed on other basses that it consistently gets higher as you move to the higher frets. Is this what would normally be controlled with neck tilt? Which is an option I don't have. I was cleaning, re-stringing and adjusting an old bass and I swear the action at the higher frets used to be lower. Thanks for your help.

It's supposed to get a little higher as you go down the neck but it shouldn't be extremly drastic. If you can't adjust the neck releif then use the saddles to lower the string height if it's too high for your tastes.
