String ID help, please! Wondering what I have here...

    I have a bass that came with a nice set of round-wounds, old-ish. A little dull, but nice sounding.

    No silk at either end.

    Ball ends:
    E bronze
    A brass
    D black
    G green

    Do these sound familiar to anyone? Gauges about 45-65-80-105

    Likely D'Addario XLs. They are the only brand, that I know of, with color coded ball ends. Well, now Fender, too, since D'Addario is making their strings.

    E, A and G sound like D'Addario, but the A seems out of place as it should be RED. Maybe it's an odd ball that wasn't part of the original set. The gauge "80" is out of place as well as D'Addario doesn't offer a factory set with those specific gauges; it should be 85.

    By the way, they're not Fender-branded as the D would be silver/chrome on a Fender set.

    Can you provide a pic of the ball ends?
