String/pickup alignment

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by RiverFunk, Jun 26, 2002.

  1. Is there any problem that can be originated from string misalignment in relation to pickup polepieces?

In this case it's a BassLines MM pickup in a MTD Kingston, which has wider spacing than a MM.

    Thanks!

I don't think this would be too much of a problem. The magnetic feilds on a pickup are broad enough that it should still be just as effective. Either that, or the output/sound would be changed very little, possibly even un noticablely.

Course, that alignment issue is why if I ever throw a new pup in my K5, I'm getting a bridge with adjustable string spacing at the same time...
