String problems

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by Tommo, Dec 28, 2002.

  1. Im getting a lot of twanging when i pluck my E and D strings, ive changed strings but this hasn't helped, a guy recommended me to tighten the nut at the top of the neck, will this help or is there anything else i can do?

    Thanx-Tommo

yeah, it is more than likely the nut. my bass guitar used to get a lot of string buzz, and when i took my strings off, the nut fell completely off.
i just put it on, but i guess the long-term solution would be to glue it on.
a new nut may also be necessary, if the strings have worn it down (mine have started to).
    good luck.

  5. what duz that nut do? duz it lower/higher to/from the strings by bending the neck? I have three screws at the top on my neck (not MY neck, I'm not some frankenstine or anything) would thay be the same?
