Looking for a set of strings for Ibanez mikro four string. What type or brand would you recommend?
Stainless steel roundwounds all the way. DR Highbeams are awesome!
Check with Jason (SlapinFunk) at BASSSTRINGSONLINE.com. He can tell you what is available to fit such a short scale bass. He'll guide you the right direction. Let him know you're a talkbass member, you'll get a discount.
Jason is the man. I don't shop anywhere else. Try the bass string bin too. Always always good deals up in there.
d'addario chrome flatwounds
d'addario semi-flats 110 (d tuning)
DR lo beams
D'addario Chromes 45-100
GHS Boomers 40-95
These are the ones that i use lately
What are your tone goals? That would help with the suggestions.
My favorites are Rotosound RS66's.
I've been going on a string hunt for the last year or so, trying out a different brand every month. I haven't found strings I like more than DR strings, specifically the DR Hi Beams.
Anything labeled as short scale will for that instrument. 32" winding length
I'm a DR fan these days!
I use their Nickel plated Lo-Riders on all my long scales and their nickel plated Sunbeams short scale 45-105s on my short scale basses including my SX fretless.
Great strings! I've tried pretty much everything, including most of the other brands listed in this thread.
