String Spacing setup question for Bad Ass Bridge P-Bass.

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by obimark, Dec 22, 2014.

  1. I have a P-Bass with a Bad Ass bridge. When I restring it I can't determine which of the grooves the strings should sit in on the bridge.

Is there a simple rule of thumb I should use?

Seems like my spacing is inconsistent between the strings every time I do it. (I don't like how this BA Bridge doesn't allow consistent spacing when re-stringing, btw)

Set the outside strings so that there is an eighth inch margin on both sides of the neck. This margin should be consistent from nut to the end of the neck.

Set the inside strings for equal spacing or centerlines, whichever you prefer.

  3. Thanks will try this tonight.

so this is the version with multiple grooves on each saddle?

in theory, you want to set the strings so that each one goes in between a pair of pickup magnets; that doesn't always work out, so if you get the strings to kinda go between the magnets and also kinda be spaced equally, that's close enough.
