Sliding my fingers up and down the strings, I sometimes hear and ear-piercing squeek. What do you do to eliminate this? Is it the strings? Amp? Equalizer?

  2. All roundwoun strings make that noise.

Only once they get dirty, they don't make it as much.

A light touch and clean technique.

I used to hate that sound and for that reason I used to stick with half or ground wounds but I finally switched to round wound strings for the tone. Smoother technique helps and besides, what squeaking you hear will tend to get lost in the mix.

    I use flats.

Haven't heard a squeek in years.
