String Survey

Some of you may have seen my Double Bass String Survey -- it was largely created from input from the 2xbass list, in 1997 and then updated in 1999. The results of that info has been posted and continues to be available at http://www.urbbob.com/dbstrings.html

I get a lot of inquiries and kind notes about it -- but more strings have entered the market, and more bassists are now on the net. So it was time for an update-- and an overhaul, since email responses were messy and took a lot of time to distill.

I have created a new survey site at http://www.eclecticbass.com/stringsurvey.html that has selections as well as opportunities for subjective text entry. This survey has not yet been announced anywhere else; I just posted the page and will appreciate your comments. It will still be a huge job to compile and publish the info on the web, but I hope it will be infinitely more valuable.

I'm officially kicking off the data-gathering season for the String Survey, having posted it in a number of bass forums. I (and countless other bassists) will appreciate your responses.
