Hi all, I play a Pedulla Pentabuzz and have had tapewound strings on it since I've owned it (Labella brand). I'm thinking of changing though because the tapewounds are too "loose/floppy" feeling and I sometimes have intonation problems because of this.

I'm thinking of trying the DR Sunbeams or Pedulla nickels? Does anyone have experience with these and how's the tension feel to ya?

(very) generally speakin', round core strings are lower tension than
hexagonal core. DR Sunbeams are round core. If you prefer Nickel,
there's DR (Ni) Low Riders. They have a hex core. As do Thomastik-
    Infeld "Powerbass" (Ni-plated S/S R/W). Gonna' try a set this weekend :D.

notduane, what would D'Addario XL nickels be classified as; round core? I use these on my fretted basses and like the tension.

From what I've read Sunbeams sound nice.

    Thanks for the info!

if you want something stiffer, the loriders would be a great way to go.

    hmm...good question?

I'm not completely sure WHAT the D'Addario core is (round or hex).
    I'm guessin' hexagonal :). BUT...

Here's the various tensions of the D'Addario XL series -- click.
And here are the tensions of a 5-string T/I Powerbass set for
    comparison -- click.

I didn't get around to tryin' out the Powerbass this weekend .
I DID re-wire a couple Yamahas with excellent results :D.
