Are there any strings that give higher tension without being as thick as a baseball bat?
The only problem in my bass at the moment is that the E & B strings feel quite floppy. I usually tune a step down (E into D etc.) and this causes some of the floppiness, but i'm sure not all... I use D'Addarios.
The bass shouldn't be a problem either, Ibanez EDB series is known for the good string tension.
Hints and tips, experiences and stuff would be welcome.

Whichever DR string has the hex core instead of a round core. I don't remember which is which: Sunbeams or Lo-Riders.
  4. Lo-Riders! (Sunbeams has the lowest tension of all DR's)
Fat-Beams has pretty good tension too, and so do Elites and Ernie Balls.

Thanks. I'll check these out. It's probably a year-long process with a student's budget :meh: , but well worth the effort.
