String Through Body and Bridge Question

Discussion in 'Hardware, Setup & Repair [BG]' started by dragoon419, Aug 15, 2007.

  1. I have a question to all of you folks with body through string and though bridge option. I've see some pictures on the HipShot web site of bridges that have the E and A string strung through the body and the D and G string strung through the bridge.

    (Here's the site)

I was wondering: is it actually a safe way to string your bass? Or if it put the strings off balance due to the additional tension from the body through strings.

    Thanks for any responses.

I think thats designed to just show you how both versions look, I don't think you're supposed to use it like that.

if the bridge is properly fixed to the instrument body, there is absolutely no reason that this would cause any physical problem.

    all the best,
