I will be getting a fender 4-string jazz. I already have a set of daddario xl long scale strings. Do you think they will string-thru?
Hi Angelo, and welcome to TB. You should be OK on the strings. Most come in Med. for short scale, Long for 34" top loaders, and XL for longer scales and string thrus. Doc
Angelo, D'Addario EXL long scale will just fit string through on my Fender Jazz. This is probably because they have no silk wrap on them.
If you ever go with the Thomastik-Infeld Jazz series, be sure to get JF364 or JR364. J == Jazz series, F/R == Flatwound / Roundwound, 36 == 36" scale length, 4 == 4-string. Rotosound makes "EL" (extra-long) versions of their 66 (s/s r/w), 77 (monel f/w), and 88 (tapewound) series. They all work well for string-through. I tried all the T/I's and Rotos mentioned on my old Gibson Ripper .
