Stringray pup switch problems

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by taviswardlaw, May 18, 2005.

  1. hey T.B.ers,
I got myself a second hand MusicMan Stringray 5 in great nick, taken really good care of. And I'm thrilled with it. But i think something in the wiring has come loose, because for the last week or so when the switch is in it's middle (phantom) completely muted, and when it's in the forward position (series) it's output is severly reduced... :meh: you can see the schematics at:

Just wondering if anyone can tell me where abouts the problem is, and whether it's a common issue, or anyone else has experienced it. I'll probably ask a friend to fix it, as I have little skill at electronics :D

Shouldnt be too hard to fix. Its a loose wire/short or maybe a dry solder joint, all easily remedied.

yup, sounds like a wire has come loose. Have your friend do it, they can use this bartolini page as reference - it says what color should go where for the MM pickups.
