I was in Guitar Center today, and I was playing some stingrays and sterlings. I found the sterling tone to be slightly better, to my ears. The salesman said the only difference between the stringray and the sterling is the pickup selector switch. Is that right?

I have owned both... the sterling body was much smaller, and if I remember right the sterling had a slimmer neck... I have a great stingray now, and it has become one of my keeper basses...
