I tried a search and did not come up with satisfactory answers to my questions:
I have a 2014 4003 Ric and I am playing in a band that is doing songs in E flat and drop D, so I was thinking of tuning the 4003 to D standard (DGCF) so I can cover everything. They told me they don't want me playing any other bass 'cause the like the sound of the Ric so much, so having a second bass at the gig is not an option, and neither is using a 5 string.
What strings would you recommend for this ( I want round wounds, the band is a rock cover band)?
Will the nut need to be filed, and will the neck need to be adjusted? Do I risk the bridge lift problem with this idea, and could this harm the neck?
    Thanks!
