I'm basically new to bass playing and just need some quick help. Will these strings fit my Epiphone Viola, and which one would you recommend? (I've done some searching through the forum, just want to be sure they fit)

Also open to other suggestions not much above that price range.

I'm pretty sure the medium scale set is what I've got on my Epiphone Viola.
The dude at http://www.bassstringsonline.com/ would know for sure & that is where I got mine from.

Yes you need medium scale strings for that instrument. As long as you order any of the string types in medium scale you are fine. However if you get the Rotosound 88s you will have to modify the nut.

I used D'Addario medium scale rounds on my old Epi Viola. The ball-ends had to be carefully coaxed through the tailpiece--a little filing did the trickp--and they worked great. I tried the medium scale chromes, and they were fine but lacked definition in my band's mix.

I have old long scale Fender flats on mine. Fit great.

The Epi Viola has bass machines on it, so it's not as picky with string lengths.
