I would still like to hear the sound of the strings without any tone or volume control settings. Turn the pickups and tone controls all the way up.
Sunbeams are up. These are very very similar to the Lo-Riders, the Sunbeams are basically the same string, but with a round core, instead of a hex. The main difference is in terms of feel, rather than tone. Still, it's up
But Sunbeams are only nickel while lo-riders are stainless steel or nickel Do the sunbeams feel less stiff?
Good work Beam Louie, Sun-beams are according to DR and to my experience too, the least stiff DR string. Hi-Beams are their stainless steel equivalent, just the nickelplating and name is different. Somehow I don't think sun-beams has as much low end as hi-beams. They sound thin and boxy to my ears. Maybe it's hte more pronounced mids due to the nickelplating.
carl-anton, Wow, that's interesting. I think they should have called them Hi-Beam nickels, though, to avoid confusion
The lo-riders I tried were nickel, I'm not a fan of SS strings. The Sunbeams seem to be a bit less "stiff" feeling
I didn't see your note on the web page, sorry. My comment was based only on listening... my apologies for not reading the site more closely. Playing your MP3 through my reference system, it sounds like the tone is rolled off, hence my comment.
